I am right handed person where I write and do things using my right hand. Right handed persons are considering very lucky because most of thing in this world are created for a right handed person. However to due to the human need some manufactures had also created left handed equipments for the lefty but it is in smaller scale. Some certain equipment is difficult to find for lefties. So the lefties have to use right handed equipments. In golfing I think the lefties do not have any problem to find the left handed club for their golfing. There are a lot of left handed club in the market right now.

Once I had played golf with my Boss. He is lefty but started golfing using right handed golf club. When I asked him why don’t you use left handed golf club? His answered was it was very difficult to find left handed golf club and yet he just started golfing. While golfing I saw him in difficulty to get the right swing due to his lefty. This is not a good example where you must start golfing with the right club. For me he will not improve golfing until he used the right club. Then for about 2 years he started to realize that my advice is really true where he bought the left handed club. Now his golfing started to improve tremendously and he is playing 12 handicaps. But he still used right handed putter for him to put due to his right handed feel for putting.

So moral of the story if you are lefty and start to play golf, it is better to find the right club. As I mention from my previous article golf club is a vital weapon in golfing. You must have a great feel with your weapon to improve your golfing.

Basic Golf Swing - Left Handed Golfers

Although 10-15% of the world's people are left-handed, there are far lower percentages of left-handed golfer than that. Many left-handers seem to play golf right-handed, which for many of them seems more natural as they are leading with their left side, left eye and turning anti-clockwise. Whether you are left or right handed, be sure do not run from the basic swing fundamentals. The right fundamentals are as follows:

a. Grip: How you hold the club, Posture: How you set up to the ball. (This is key to a successful golf swing which includes: width of stance, knee flex, straightening of the back, bending from the hip socket, the angle the back maintains throughout the swing.)

b. Pivot: how you move your body from your head to your toes (excluding your hands and arms),

To get a proper alignment, start by positioning yourself about 10 feet directly behind the ball. Keep the ball between yourself and the target. Put your grip on the club at this point. Pick a spot on the ground about 3 feet in front of the ball that is on line to the target. Use that spot as a reference for addressing the ball and aiming your clubface. Keeping focus on your spot and walk up to the ball. With your feet together, get into your posture standing parallel to your target line, which is drawn from the ball to the spot 3 feet in front of the ball, towards the target. Address the ball, keeping your body square to the target line and positioning your feet appropriately for the club you are going to use. The line of the tips of your toes, knees, hips, and shoulders should be parallel to your target line.

For a left-handed golfer, aim the club about 5 yards to the right of the target. Align your toes parallel to the club on the ground and practice about 20 shots, then remove the club and test yourself. It would benefit any golfer who needs assistance with their swing to instruction from an experienced teacher in your area.
